Abstract
histamine is mainly metabolized by methylation and oxidation. So, the concentration of urinary N-methylhistamine can be used as an index of endogenous histamine production.
To determine whether endogenous production of histamine is increased during acute exacerbation of asthma in chronic asthmatics and to evaluate the possibility of urinary Nmethylhistamine as a severied the concentration of urinary N-ethylhistamine
in 6
bronchial asthmatics who visited exacerbation of bronchial asthma and compared it with the results of pulmonary function test and arterial blood gs analysis.
@ES The results was as followings:
@EN 1) Urinary N-methylhistamine concentration corrected by urinary creatinine concentraction (Umh/cr) was increased and significantly correlated with ratio between FEV1 and FVC (FEV1/FVC).
2) Umh/cr was significantly correlated with PaO2.
3) FEV1/FVC was significantly correlated with PaO2.
From these results, it can be concluded that endogenous production of histamine is increased during acute exacerbation of chronic bronchial asthma and the amount of endogenous histamine production can be used as an index of severity of bronchial
asthma.
